Jerry Lawler will leave WWE broadcasting role if he becomes Memphis mayor

WWE announcer Jerry Lawler would have to leave his WWE broadcasting role on Raw every Monday night if he's elected to become mayor of Memphis.

Former co-broadcaster Jim Ross says the position "is a full time position and one cannot hold another job, as I understand the matter." Ross added: "If Lawler wins the Memphis Mayoral race he will have to come off Monday Night Raw which would certainly end an amazing era that started 15 years ago."

Ross said he communicated with Lawler to gauge how serious he is about running for mayor and it's clear to him that Lawler is very committed to this decision.

"Jerry has often talked seriously, yes we did talk seriously on occasion on our many, many road trips together, about how he would like to do something positive for his hometown," Ross said. "Jerry certainly isn't running for Mayor for the pay day but as an old school, public official who genuinely cares for his hometown and wants to make it better for all who live there."

Although Lawler was pretty awesome, he has been average as of late so I wouldn't miss him much but I would still miss him.....I'd be pretty surprised if he won though.

Agreed. He used to be hilarious, but now he's gone a bit stale. Still, it would seem weird watching Raw and not having King there.

Haha yeah. I think his funniest things he ever said was the night after Survivor Series 2001, when William Regal joined the 'Kiss My Ass' club haha.
